Ratrocious Distortion
‘rATrOCIOUS Distortion is based on the famous ProCo Rat.
We have opted to use the OP07 chip as opposed to the LM308 to avoid bogus chips. There is no discernable difference in tone. It also helps to keep the price down.
One of the vintage options we did opt for was the reverse wired tone control which works in reverse. As you turn the tone control clockwise it adds bass. Turn it down for more treble. This allows for a very dynamic tone curve which is especially good to either give a dark guitar some lift or settle a bright guitar.
The gain on this thing is awesome. if you want an AC/DC style drive start with it at 9 o’clock. Turn it up to midday for an 80s style heavy rock distortion or all the way for sludgy doom tones. It’s super versatile and works beautifully with humbucking pickups and single coil pups.
